What is Microneedling? Microneedling without radiofrequency (RF) is a treatment that stimulates your skin's natural rejuvenation system to improve appearance. Microneedling can improve the appearance of enlarged pores, skin texture and tone, acne scars, and stretch marks. How Does Microneedling Work? The microneedling device creates microchannels in the surface layer of your skin, resulting in tiny areas of micro-trauma. These tiny areas of micro-trauma activate the natural healing process, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are the structural proteins found in the dermal layer of your skin that provide strength, support, and elasticity. Production of these proteins decreases as you get older, which contributes to the visual signs of aging (sagging, lines, and wrinkles). What Areas Can Be Treated? Microneedling is most commonly performed on the face and neck. What Do Treatments Feel Like? Microneedling treatments are very tolerable. Depending on the depth of penetration of the microneedles you might feel a pricking sensation.
